Guest Post. No. Guest List. Sort of. Anyway, It’s All About Graphic Novels…

This post is going to look odd. It’s not my fault.

I know, I know – everyone always says that. But this time it’s true.

Lemme explain.

In the interest of protecting the search engine love that all us bloggers need to survive (it’s like oxygen by way of cheeseburgers – some of it we need, some of it we just really really like), I can’t repost this as a guest post, so have to do it as a guest list. The author (Eric Thompson) contacted me a little while ago about sharing the info with my readers – which I thought was a great idea, as I don’t know a lot about graphic novels, but do think that they are an increasingly cool form of book-ness. I don’t like to just do links to posts, so I asked him if I could repost some of it here and then give you the link. He kindly agreed. So here you have it – a semi-guest post, guest list compilation of some great graphic novels that you should give a look-see…

8 Awesome Graphic Novels You Really Should Read
– provided courtesy of Eric at Office Space for Rent; for the full post, click here

Graphic novels aren’t just for superheroes, and they haven’t been for a long time. Here are 8 awesome books to check out, whether you are a beginner to the genre or a long-time fan: [*NB: here’s where that tricky search engine stuff kicks in; I’m not going to list/describe the books. That would catch the eye of the search engine gods – and not in a good way. I’m going to show you pictures of them, and invite you to click on the link above for the descriptions and information. What a clever shark I am. Sorry if the extra clicks annoy you – feel free to shake your fist at the search engine gods; I do. Often.]

Incidentally, I want to add my own two cents here. I haven’t read any of his full-on graphic novels, but I LOVE everything Neil Gaiman, so his works are on my very own list of graphics not to miss! 🙂

Eric Thompson lives in Texas with his two dogs who don’t love graphic novels as much as him.

  • Nice post! I just read the entire Sandman series and really enjoyed it – definitely worth checking out.

  • Thanks! I have to get the Sandman books – they are at the top of my TBR list now, especially since finding “The Sandman Book of Dreams” (collection of Sandman-related short stories by various and sundry authors) at the library used book sale for 50 cents recently… Gaiman is amazing – I love everything he does. The way “The Graveyard Book” was illustrated really made the story so much more real for me – I expected it to annoy me, because I like picturing things in my head, but it totally didn’t. I suspect his graphic novels will be the same for me… Thanks for the comment/visit!
