Well, it’s official – my (probably best) story is submitted for consideration for Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers… EEK! It’s called “On His Shoulders,” and it’s a tale about the angel/devil voices that sit on our shoulders, nudging us in various directions. With my own slightly morbid twist, of course.
I’m insanely nervous and extremely proud of the piece and exceedingly antsy for October to come so I will know how the story fared. I could NOT have finished this one without the help of the world’s greatest writing buddy, the fabulous Tracy Brown (and her equally fabulous Gordon), or Rick The Husband or Geoff The Mentor from The Old Job, so thanks to all of them in advance.
Regardless of what happens, I feel pretty great about how this one turned out – can’t wait to see how it goes so I can share it with you! For now I can’t though, as in addition to being a contest submission it’s also the cornerstone piece in the WIP short-story collection… But trust me – it’s a doozy! π
Woo hoo! We’re all so excited for you!
*happy dance*
Thanks for the nod, but you worked your butt off on this story! You inspire me! *raising a glass to you*
Oh Tracy, now is not the time for modesty… π And thanks for the compliment and the happy dance – and the glass. We’ll have to raise one for real again soon… π
Congratulations! It’s always great to hear of other writers’ successes. Wish you tons of luck further on, seems you’re doing the hard work already. π
Thanks so much Vero – I’m trying! It’s a long road, eh? Worth it – don’t get me wrong. But long. The compliments and the congrats and well wishes make the length easier – so thank you again!!
