A Teaser for The Summer that Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel

“The heat came with the devil.”

So opens the extraordinary book I’m currently reading – The Summer that Melted Everything, by Tiffany McDaniel. I am going a bit off-pattern by telling you (actually, truth be told, teasing you) about it before my review. I was contacted by the author and asked if I would be interested in receiving a free reading copy in exchange for a review and am I EVER GLAD I DID… Admittedly, this one would have sparked my interest by title and cover alone, and the description would have sealed the deal – I’d definitely have picked it up if I’d seen it. But that’s the key, isn’t it – making sure you see the books that resonate the most with you?? SO I’m taking a minute to give you a teaser by mentioning it before my review, since I want to make sure you see it. Yes, it’s that good.

The book will be available July 26. Here’s the trailer. It’s creepy and evocative and leaves you wondering what, exactly, is going on. EXACTLY LIKE THE BOOK. The trailer makes it seem darker than the writing itself to my mind, but as I’ve thought more about it, I’ve decided that was not at all an odd thing for this particular book. There is so much going on here – it’s philosophy by way of character development and classic storytelling and is absolutely gorgeously written (McDaniel won’t give you multiple adverbs in a row, I assure you, her writing sells itself…). I won’t say more for now – this is, after all, a self-proclaimed teaser. But definitely check out the trailer and watch for my review – it’s going to be a goodie…
