Well, I’ve put it off as long as possible, used up my spare blog posts, checked email/Facebook/Twitter/GoodReads/Book Blogs and everything else I possibly could and now it’s time. Time to get back to work and reality.
Sigh, she said.
No more “sorry, can’t work today, wedding planning things!” or “oops, no can do, have to get ready for the honeymoon!” excuses for me. I now have to live my real life, which means writing writing writing every day.
Eek, she said.
Don’t get me wrong. I love to write. I enjoy writing the blog posts (although not as much as the fiction), really enjoy writing comments back to people when they share something with me about one of my posts, and even sort of like the marketing/promotional stuff (well, “sort of like” may be a teensy bit of an overstatement, but at least I don’t hate it like I used to). This isn’t a job that I hate – believe me, I’ve had those (and if you need/want proof, just read my “About Me”!) and this is nothing like those days.
But still – it was nice to have the fun wedding/honeymoon planning things to do and to look forward to.
It’s not like there’s nothing going on in the ol’ personal life now, mind you. We are in the process of consolidating our home (selling two houses and buying a new and improved one for our new and improved family) and planning an even bigger family (teehee!), so there’s still LOTS going on. But for some reason those things just don’t sound as excuse-full as the wedding/honeymoon did…
So I guess you will be seeing more more more from me in the coming days/weeks/months – wish me luck!
If your book is going to be anything like your biography, I know it will be great. I enjoy the way you write.
Awww, thank you so much Starla!! I just hope to actually FINISH the book… 🙂 Believe me though, it’s encouragement like this that helps me keep going!
Ah reality… 🙂
Cheering you on as you get back into the swing of things!
Thanks Tracy! I definitely need it – so far I’m not doing so good on the back-to-reality thing and I’m finding a zillion “legitimate” reasons to procrastinate… Grr. I really need a swift kick in the arse! 🙂
