Today: Then and Now (Part the Second)

So Monday, I rambled on and on about Facebook notes and 2009-2011 comparisons and so on and so forth… Today I’m picking up where I left off. In the interest of avoiding horrific repetitiveness, I won’t bore those of you who saw it with a rehash – if you didn’t yet read yesterday’s, however, just flip back a day or click the link above.

Today (Continued)

11. The last time I really cried was …

  • 2009: something I’d rather not think about. So I won’t!
  • 2011: too recently. Not that I’ve cried particularly recently, just that I think anytime you cry is too recently. Yeah, I still don’t like to cry or think about crying or the things that make me cry. Emotion – eek! 😉

12. My cell phone …

  • 2009: is annoying. When the battery dies it gives you 2 seconds to plug it in, then shuts down anyway.
  • 2011: is still annoying. It’s a Droid – which I like – but it (like all technology) hates me – which I don’t like.

13. When I wake up in the morning …

  • 2009: I lay there and think “thank GOD I don’t have to go to work today!!”, and then I just lay there a little longer…
  • 2011: I like to snuggle (cuggle! teehee) through a series of snooze-button-hits for as long as possible… I am not a morning person, although I am trying!

14. Before I go to bed …

  • 2009: I brush, floss, wash my face, and check the weather. What an old woman I am already!
  • 2011: I brush, floss, use fluoride and tartar prevention mouth rinse, put on lip balm, and pick a book that I usually read about five pages of before falling asleep. Ugh – I am an even older woman now than I was two years ago!

15. Right now I am thinking …

  • 2009: that I secretly like these kinds of things – i.e., notes, in which you get to think about what you think about, and then read what other people think about too.
  • 2011: that I am outlandishly lucky, unbelievably happy, and spectacularly fortunate. And I’m more than a little afraid of what would happen to me if I lost any of the things that I have finally gained… (Incidentally, I still do secretly – or now not-so-secretly, teehee – like these kinds of things.)

16. Babies are…

  • 2009: cute and fun, but I’m not sure I’m meant to have my own – and that is ok with me. I’m a great aunt. Ask around…
  • 2011: on the radar for next year. I’m still a great aunt (at least I like to flatter myself into thinking I am), and I’m still terrified of what kind of mom I would be, but I definitely want us to give it a whirl… Yikes! (in a very very good way)

17. I get on Myspace …

  • 2009: never.
  • 2011: never. Seriously – I’m a grown-up.

18. Today I miss …

  • 2009: nothing. It’s a pretty good day. Sunny and everything!
  • 2011: nothing. It was more than a pretty good day – several things worked out much better/easier/faster/cheaper than planned, it was sunny, and I had yummy pizza leftovers for lunch and even yummier tacos for dinner. Life is good, she said!

19. Tomorrow …

  • 2009: I have lunch plans with a friend from work that I haven’t seen in a while, and I hope she has good news…
  • 2011: we are going to a chicken barbecue fundraiser; other possibilities include a bike ride, local fireman’s carnival, and an afternoon of nothing.

20. I really want to be …

  • 2009: a person with a “SOLD!” sign in the front yard and a large check in the bank.
  • 2011: a person with a multi-book deal and a syndicated column and a staff to manage all the little bits of my personal and writing lives that take me away from the people and things I really care about/enjoy…

21. Someone that will most likely re-post this is …

  • 2009: maybe Amy? 🙂
  • 2011: Not relevant – although honestly, she probably still would answer if I asked her to! 😉
