Five Books You Should Read This Year

Reading has been a common pastime for people of all ages, genders and origins throughout history. Books are our best teachers: they educate, entertain, and amuse us every time we read them. What’s more, they are doors to the other reality, and this reality varies on the book you are reading. We acquire this skill in early childhood; some people continue improving it during their entire life, others – stop, considering it as a useless activity. But who can say what can be better, than a smell of a newly printed edition in your hands and the thrill it gives you once you have read it from cover to cover? Someone has told me once that a reader lives a thousand lives before he actually dies, and people who never read, live only one. Can you count how many lives have you lived till this very moment? If you are one of those, who have got this addiction and can’t imagine your day without having 30 minutes break for reading, or have read so much that you do not know what books to read right now, then this article will give you fresh ideas on recent good books available on the market.

  • Origin by Dan Brown
This is a new thriller novel, crafted by a famous Dan Brown, whose works always get the first places in various lists of current best selling books, suggested by many online sites. This is a story about a futurist Edmond Kirsch, who is hosting a meeting in Spain, where he wants to make his revolutionary discovery that will answer two life’s most important questions “Where did we come from?” and “Where are we going?” and this will end the age of religion. He is then found killed, and our old friend, from Dan Brown’s earlier masterpieces, Robert Langdon starts his investigation. If you are looking for a good book to read, you won’t regret choosing this one.
  • Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey White House Years by David Litt
Have you ever dreamt of working with a President of the United States? If you want to find out how a man with such experience feels, then a memoir of the former Obama speechwriter David Litt (he is one of the youngest writers in the history of White House) is a perfect match for you. It is a story about a 24 years-old man, who becomes Obama’s go-to comedy writer. The author discovers Obamaworld and his politics in a very interesting manner, being a part of it. This work is not only about politics, but it is also full of interesting facts and thoughts.
  • The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagercrantz
If you miss The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, then this edition is just what you are looking for. It is one of the most long-awaited new book releases for many fans of Stieg Larsson’s previous works. Swedish novelist David Lagercrantz carries on Larson’s life’s work by creating a story about the childhood of young hacker Lisbeth Salander. You can read online version of the book on any device, or get a printed edition and enjoy every page.
  • I’m Fine… And Other Lies by Whitney Cummings
Whitney Cummings is a famous American comedian, actress, star of the sitcom Whitney and co-creator of 2 Broke Girls. Her work “I’m Fine… And Other Lies” tells us her own vision on the world as it is; sometimes sarcastic and ironic, but, at the same time, so real. This book will capture your attention from the first page and help you to look the other way on the ordinary things, you even haven’t drawn your attention to earlier.
  • The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo
This work is amidst top books to read in many book rating lists. It tells us a really breathtaking love story, which will, definitely, give you a lift of emotions once you have read it. This is a romantic fairy-tale about Lucy and Gabe, who have met each other at college and then went their separate ways. You will read about 13 years of their lives, full of adventures, dreams, betrayals and love. You won’t be able to put this book down, thus make a big cup of tea, grab some cookies and enjoy this bestseller.

It is not a complete list of suggested books, because there are thousands of them, which are worth reading, but I hope that this drop in the ocean will help you to choose at least one handbook to spend evenings with. If it happens so, I may say that my mission is completed. Good luck!
